Rest & Be Thankful: Useful Plants for Calm (Indoor Workshop)

  • Pitlochry Scotland (map)

Learn how to calm the nervous system and restore balance in time for the dark winter nights.

Overview

Inspired by the famous mountain pass where travellers once paused to rest and give thanks, this indoor workshop offers a moment to do the same. In this hands-on apothecary session, you’ll learn how Scotland’s traditional herbs can support calm within the body.

Set indoors, this two-hour workshop blends plant science with heritage knowledge. You’ll explore how specific herbs influence the nervous system before creating three practical remedies to take home: each designed to help you unwind, reset, and restore.

What You’ll Learn

• Understand how the nervous system responds to stress — and how herbs can support relaxation
• Identify Scottish and traditional calming plants such as heather, oat straw, lemon balm, and Scots pine
• Learn how scent influences mood and emotional balance
• Safely blend and prepare herbal remedies for everyday use
• Discover the Highland history and folklore behind these restorative plants
